Storycity is an initiative by Kahani Designworks, a Mumbai-based communication design studio. The publication includes books, maps and guides that introduce Mumbai in an ingenious way. I designed the envelope art for 'Deco by the Bay' - a map to Mumbai's popular Art Deco heritage.
Rounded arches are one of the characteristic features of art deco architecture. I combined the arches with motifs inspired by the buildings the map features to create a symmetrical structure. It houses the title designed by Ruchita Madhok. My favourite element of the design is the part below the title where you can see several arches coming together. These arches also represent water waves and the seawall's barriers, accurately illuminating the title.
