World Aeropress Championship 2021
Event Identity Design

Designed an offbeat and vibrant identity for India national level finals for World Aeropress Championship 2021, hosted by Subko Coffee. Artists worldwide have been producing stunning renditions of the popular brewing tool in the form of championship posters since the inception of the championship. It was fun to join the bandwagon!

Keeping it simple

The Aeropress is a manual coffee maker that uses a plunger and a paper filter to brew a cup of coffee. During the championship, participants from all over the world compete to brew a single cup of coffee using recipes developed by them within a 10-minute time limit with an Aeropress.

Hindi (the official language of India besides English) is written in the Devanagari script. I utilised Devanagari numbers instead of Latin to indicate the qualifying round location.

Stickers made using this graphic were well received by all. In fact, apart from the participants, the internal team at Subko liked the stickers so much that they can still be seen on people's laptops and diaries if you stroll about Subko today :) The design kit also consisted a few other collaterals like wristbands, certificates, custom t-shirts and tote bags.

To disrupt the serious vibe associated with corrugated paper, a new identity with minimal-pop-vibrant illustration against the corrugated paper was developed. The design direction for this project sparked the growth of Subko's visual identity beyond the foundation assets, paving the way for it to become a dynamic and design-led coffee brand.
