Merch Design for Subko
Merch Design

One of my favourite merch design projects that reassured my belief that coffee tastes better with a side of good design.

Client:
Subko Specialty Coffee Roasters and Bakehouse
Role:
Graphic Design

Subko In-house Design Team

During my time at Subko as the lead designer, I was briefed to extend Subko’s merchandise line. I aimed to subtly encapsulate Subko Coffee's brand identity while focusing more on coffee as a culture and art form.

We worked with local businesses to create a diverse range of merchandise including tote bags, stickers, enamel pins, and glass tumblers. The inspiration for the designs were intentionally eclectic; it could come from anywhere, such as a flavour note from one of our small-batch beans, or it could come from an intriguing feature on the coffee farm. Subko's gorgeous pet cat named Laila inspired the 'Laila' - The Queen of Mary Lodge Tumblr design.

The merchandise played a vital role in community building, uniting coffee enthusiasts for some fun design and coffee jabber. It went beyond being a merch element, becoming a tangible expression of Subko's coffee culture and a catalyst for a vibrant, engaged community of coffee lovers.
